Dental Office overhead and production...?

What is the average over head for a solo dentist, and how much can he or she produce annually in a mid-sized community?

thanks!

Dental Office overhead and production...?
I don't do the bookkeeping for my boss so I can't tell you exact numbers for the overhead costs. However, I do handle the supplies and repairs in the office, and I can tell you that I probably spend about $3000 or more in supplies each month, sometimes much more. Depending on what repairs need to be done, either handpieces or large equipment, that could be $1000 a month, though some months it could be less than $100.

We had a dentist in our practice, who just opened his own practice a few months ago, and when he was still with us, we produced between $120,000 and $130,000 a month. In 2006 we produced a million by October, however I don't know how much of that was spent in overhead costs.

There is an organization that we have used to help us in our office, kind of like consultants, and they taught dental offices how to lower their overhead costs, while raising their production. That really helped us.
