HI, I'm seeking for some informative info. to start a new career in the medical field. I'M THINKING ABOUT CALLING A MEDICAL OFFICE AND FINDING OUT WHAT TYPE OF INFO I CAN GET ,HOWEVER THIS IS A WEEKEND AND THEIR IS NOT AN OFFICE OPEN SO THIS IS WHY I'M ASKING ON THIS YAHOO ANSWER.ALSO SO ICAN TALK TO REAL LIFE EXPERINCE PEOPLe WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN CERTIFIED.
Does anyone know what type of educational background you need to have to work in an medical office,or become a medical assistant/ Dental assistant. I also need to know if their is a certificate program thats inexpensive that I can take on line .
Do you think that if I take an online study program that a medial office will accept my diploma if I don't have that hands on learing experience. I just don't know if the hands on learning is as important. Cause I have a full time job and don't have time to be going part time so I'm trying to do something thats going to be very convienent for me ,and also benifit me
I need MATURE EXPERIENCE MEDICAL /DENTAL OFFICE ASSISTANCE?
Believe me, hands on is the best way to go..I have gone through the Medical Office Assistant program and am just finishing up the Office Systems Technology program to finish with my Associates Degree.
If I had not had all the hands on learning I wouldn't know what the heck I was doing. It's not as easy as it sounds to be an assistant to anyone. You have MAJOR responsibilities. And more than likely if something goes wrong it's your fault. You are basically the reason the office runs the way it will.
Don't cut yourself short by not getting the hands on training that you need.
PS) To Sammi~
Yes, Medical Assistants do have to go through certification on a yearly basis.
Reply:well, i work in a medical office and trust me you need the hands on training! wherther you work work front or back office.i dont know of any online classes but i took a class for 7 months. i know it seems long but it was worth it!!!
Reply:Dental and Medical Assistants aren't certified... there's a big difference between getting a Diploma and a Certification. My advice to you is to go to a community college or a school that guarantees certification. Or don't mess around at all with being an assistant... go to school and get your 4 year degree as a RN. You get paid more and they don't treat you like a slave as much as they do Assistants. Working at a hospital is much better than working at a regular doctor's office because... sometimes the staff... depending on how much education they have and their title... they can be very unprofessional.
If I would've known how bad it is to be a Medical Assistant... I would have never went to school to become one. It's a waste of money. Because sometimes they get people off of the streets... train them... and pay them as much or more than someone that had already went to school and got a diploma.
Don't waste your time or money going to schools that don't really care about your education and that only want your money. Go to a community college and become an RN. You won't regret it like I did.
I went to a trade school that rushed my education... had stupid teachers... and getting through my externship was awful. Just don't waste your money... go to a real school!!!!
