Dental Assistant?

How would i go about becoming a Dental Assistant?

Would i need to take special classes for it or will the Dental Office just train me? Also, would it hurt to email local Dental offices asking if they need a Dental Assistant?

Thanks in advance!

Dental Assistant?
What state are you in? Depending on your location, you may need to be certified/licensed to take xrays and perform expanded duties. If you go to www.danb.org, you can find specific info on the laws for your state.

For entry-level assisting, you can be trained OTJ or take classes.

I would suggest personally visiting local dental offices instead of emailing them...then you may be able to speak to someone directly and get some guidance on how you can persue this career.

Good luck to you!

Reply:you can go to your local community college and see if they have the program which should be like 9 months also you might want to check ROP since a Dental Assistant program would get you your x-ray certificate among other certificates but you can also go to dental offices and talk to the dentist or office manager and express your interest in the field and your willingness to learn and become a dental assistant and hopes that they will train you. You will need your hepatitis shot series.
